You've probably seen those little boxes at the top of Google search results with a few lines of text excerpted from the page. These are called featured snippets, and they're one of the most important factors in getting your website ranking on the first page of Google. In this article, we'll discuss what featured snippets are and how to win featured snippet in Webflow and other website content management platforms.

How to get featured snippet in webflow infographic

The most common challenge that people have is figuring out how to optimize their website for featured snippets. This can be difficult if you don't know how to use Webflow or other website content management platforms. In addition, many people don't know how to write effective titles and descriptions for their web pages. As a result, they often don't show up in Google search results.

As a business owner, you know that ranking high in Google search results is a key to a larger puzzle for your success. You also know that it's not always easy to rank your website at the top of the search engine results pages (SERPs). In fact, it can be downright difficult to compete with the big dogs.

1. What is a featured snippet

Featured snippets are important because they can help your website rank higher in Google search results. In addition, they can also help you increase click-through rates (CTRs) and improve your website's visibility. As a business owner, it's essential to understand how to win featured snippets to get the most out of your website.

2. How to win featured snippets with Webflow

If you're looking to get your website noticed by Google, you need to make sure you're using the right platform. Webflow is perfect for creating fast, responsive websites that look great on all devices. And because Webflow automatically generates clean, standards-compliant code, it's easy for Google to index your site and understand your content.

So, how can you use this to your advantage and start ranking for featured snippets?

Use the correct keywords

Using keyword-rich titles and descriptions. Be careful not to spam the page with keywords though. Search algorithms have gotten way smarter over the years, and black hat tricks don't work anymore. The goal is to use keywords naturally throughout your content.

Know your searchers' intent

In addition, make sure that your website's content is well-written and informative. When you know the searcher's intent it's easier to create content that answers their questions. When you can answer a specific question that no one else on the web has answered, you can rank #1 place within 3 weeks - as some reports indicate.

Use quick and bite-sized information at the top of your article

This is where Webflow's CMS comes in handy. You can easily add a summary of your article to the top of your web page. This summary should be bite-sized and include the most important information from your article. Google will often pull featured snippets from quick and handy information, so it's important to have this information readily available.

Create a table to relay a lot of numbers at once

If your article contains a lot of numbers or data, it can be helpful to create a table. This will make it easier for Google to understand your content and pull featured snippets from your page.

See this screenshot as an example:

You can embed HTML code into your article and use a clean table for data like this in Webflow. We like to use this table generator to make it easier. See our article about extensive table use in Webflow.

Index your site manually for faster results

If you want to ensure that your website is indexed quickly, you can submit your sitemap directly to Google. This will help Google find and index your site faster. You can go further by searching the exact post or page from your site and indexing it within Google Webmaster.

Make your website fast and mobile-friendly

Google wants to give searchers the best possible experience. That means returning results from websites that are fast and mobile-friendly. Luckily, Webflow's responsive design means your site will look great and work well on any device.

Use schema markup

Schema markup is code that you can add to your website to help Google understand your content. With Webflow, a developer can code Schema relatively easy, in turn, making it easy for Google to find and index your site.

3. Why use Webflow

Webflow is an amazing platform that can be used to build custom websites without any coding knowledge, without limiting developers. It’s perfect for any businesses, bloggers, and even web applications!

There are a lot of reasons why you might want to use Webflow.

1. Ease of use:

Webflow is incredibly easy to use. Even if you’ve never created a website before, you have the option to create a banger website without experience using its pre-made templates.

One of the best things about Webflow is that you don’t need any coding knowledge to use it! And if a developer set everything up for you, you can customize everything right from the front end!

But that's nothing new right? There are tens of website builders out there, with templates and ease of use. Well, this is where Webflow shines. If you want something custom made in clean code, you can hire an agency and get a highly proficient and effective website, built from scratch.

Webflow gives the best of both worlds - ease of use for begginners as well as full control for developers.

2. Customization options

With Webflow, you have complete control over the look and feel of your website. You can customize every single element to create a site that’s completely unique. This way the website can deliver on goals and be custom to you and your needs.

3. SEO friendly

SEO has more to do with marketing knowledge rather than the platform itself, but some platforms such as Squarespace or Shopify make SEO harder than it should be - technically speaking. However, Webflow ’s SEO is on-point thanks to its clean code and customizable options.

4. Pricing

Webflow has three pricing plans: Starter, Creator, and Business. The starter plan is free, and the other three plans are $12/month, $16/month, and $36/month respectively. So, it's relatively cheap to host on.

4. Examples of winning featured snippets in Google Search

One of the best ways to learn about something is to see examples of it in action. So let’s take a look at some examples of winning featured snippets in Google Search.

Right on topic, the first thing I see when I search "How to win featured snippets" is an article from If you're not familiar with Moz, they are a giant SEO company that supplies tools and analytics to SEO marketers.

So, it makes sense to write all the content possible about their topic, get featured snippets, and get more clicks on their site, which gets more customers to buy their tools. Their snippet is structured in such a way, that makes people want to click to find out more. On top of that, they include their products within the article, so that their conversion rate is even higher.

The second example is for a simple question. How to jump start a car. As you see, the paragraph is a perfect snippet to show the summary and quickly get the information you need. In this case, most people will probably not click on the website, as the answer is black and white (or black and red, pardon).

So you can see how winning this snippet might not be as beneficial as the example we've shown above. However, this question is for a very general topic, and we can bet that with hundreds of thousands of searches about this, a few people click on the website to learn more.

Finally, the third example might be the best one yet. It is from Lonely Planet. Essentially, they are running a content funnel. They are writing hundreds of blogs about travelling, and funnelling people into buying the full picture - their guide books and newsletter.

As you see, the snippet doesn't really give us a full picture of how to travel around the world. This is the perfect example of how to use a user's intent to your advantage. You are able to give them value up front and quickly, without giving it all away, since the topic is too big to cover in a snippet. We can bet that this has an incredibly high click-through rate, and a fraction of the visitors probably stayed to purchase their guides.

5. Other ways to get content in the Google Featured Snippet Box (Tricks)

If you want to get featured snippets for your website, there are other ways to do it that aren’t as reliant on SEO. You can delete old content. YES! Counter intuitive, but let's get into it. You can use tools such as the Structured Data Testing Tool or the Rich Results Test Tool to see how your website is performing and analyse what is going wrong. For example, Siege Media has reported a 50% increase in organic search after deleting over 15% of old and bad posts from their client's website.

Additionally, Google has a new feature called “People also searched”, which gives you a good idea of what the user's search intents are. This way, you can start going into rabbit holes to finally find a topic that hasn't been covered yet.

The article illustrates how the Google Snippet Box is a powerful tool for driving more traffic to your site. The main takeaway of this article is that you should use Webflow and leverage cognitive neuroscience principles in order to get content into the Google Featured Snippets box. Think about what will happen when your customers see articles with your products or services.
